Tympanoplasty

My baby had a hole in her ear.  Last May a really bad ear infection left her with a ruptured ear drum that failed to heal on its own.  Today she had surgery to have it repaired.  It was excruciating to watch her struggle against the anesthesia mask, horrible to hear her wailing in pain after the kiddy cocktail wore off and heartbreaking to hear her say, "This is a problem!  We have a very big PROBLEM and it's that my ear hurts so bad!  I. Do. Not. Like. Surgery!!"

As hard as today has been, I am eternally grateful that she made it through the surgery without any glitches and very thankful that a little bitty hole in the ear is our biggest health challenge. Days like today are the kind of days that allow me to be appreciative for all those other ordinary days. Perspective.
