Science Fair 2012

Kennedy participated in her school's science fair again this year.  She wanted to do her project on fossils and once she told this to her Poppy he decided she needed to go fossil hunting.  So, last weekend in the muddy, cold rain, they went.  The super cool part about it was that they actually found real fossils.  What a great hands-on learning experience.  Watching her at the science fair last night was cute.  She was so proud of her project, very excited to be at school and darling as she buzzed around chatting with all her little friends.

E Man

I had been hemming and hawing forever about this whole kindergarten red-shirting business.  Do I send him, do I hold him, do I send him, do I hold him.  I've done the research, talked to other parents, conferred with teachers and still the decision had been a hard one for me. Until I(we) decided, and now, it's pure bliss.  Knowing that he's going and knowing that it is the right decision for him because of all the wonderful things he's accomplished.

At his final preschool conference last week his teacher said he was confident, social, follows directions, raises his hand in class to answer questions, right on track academically and completely ready to be in kindergarten in the fall.  Her exact words were, "it would be a huge mistake not to send Easton to kindergarten."  Whew!  Instinctively I already knew this, but, to hear it yet again from a teacher that has been teaching preschoolers for many (many) years makes me want to do a little happy dance.

Peep

Kennedy's class has had an incubator full of chick eggs in it for the past month.  They have watched the life cycle of a chick progress daily by candling (a machine that lights them up so you can see through the shell and note daily changes and growth) the eggs.  Finally, after much anticipation by her and her classmates the eggs cracked and the chicks hatched out.
