OCD, Yeah You Know Me

I'll be the first to admit I have a case of self-diagnosed OCD when it comes to certain things.  Birthday party themes for instance...give me a theme and I don't just run a little 5K and buy matching plates and napkins....I run a bit of a marathon.  When Kennedy decided the 6th birthday party would be rainbows (sometime soon after her 5th birthday) I started to sing along with Judy Garland.  It seems is a little bit wacko, I know, but I get a strange satisfaction conjuring up theme related party favors, games, decorations and food.  It's time consuming but I make time to do it because it feeds that creative hunger that I am constantly trying to nourish.   Watch out Star Wars....you're next....the turnaround is quick but I just ate a big fat helping of rainbow and now my plate is empty.

Dear Miss Kennedy,

Today is your 6th birthday and you have gifted me the greatest gift ever. How has it been 6 years since you appeared so tiny and pink in this world? It seems like just yesterday that you were crawling around the house with your paci and chubby cheeks. I blinked and here we are, celebrating age 6. You are such a thoughtful, smart, beautiful little girl and I am so blessed to have you to love. Happy birthday Kennedy Ellen, I promise, tonight we’ll have rainbows….lots and lots of rainbows.

Jones Family Reunion 2011

We flew in to Ohio for a Jones family reunion over the weekend. It was very nostalgic for me as I watched my kids run at the farm just as Mike and I had when we were little. Weekend events included chasing fireflies, playing with cousins, reminiscing, laughing, playing bean bag toss, a hayride, a wasp sting and lots of family feeling very very lucky that we had all been brought together for a chance to reconnect.
